Romance part 1: Emma Scott

Welcome to the selection full of romance and passion, which consists of Emma Scott’s novels!

Books that I have here are duology called Beautiful Stars, which includes “Light Up the Sky” and “Bring Down the Stars”, then “Love Beyond Words”, “Unbreakable” and “Be My Tomorrow”.

“Light Up the Sky” is told mostly from main heroine`s perspective, though often includes the chapters from her love interests’ {yes, there is more than one(!)} perspectives. So I summed up the plot differently in comparison to other annotations from this selection.

I fell in love with Connor. With his poetry, his words that pierce straight to my heart, his beautiful soul. He understands me as if he’s reading my mind. I can’t—and don’t want to—fight my feelings. But if I love Connor, then why am I irresistibly drawn to Weston? Arrogant, brooding, sharp-tongued Weston, whose icy gaze burns. Neither of us can deny the sparks that have ignited between us. When fate sends both Connor and Weston into the army, to a dangerous war zone, I realize they’ve taken my heart with them. I dream of them having a chance to come back from that hell unharmed. But what if love can only save one of them? Could I make such a choice?

Perhaps I gave you too much information, but that is essential to make some certain expectations. Feel free to do so! This duology will not bring them down. I am sure this love triangle is unique as the circumstances are mind-blowing: they are ALMOST brothers, and, well, of course both of them are madly in love with our heroine, but I didn’t quiet question the probability of such situation.

I am not going to make a synopsis for “Bring Down the Stars” not to spoil you the first book, but here are some of my comments.

I cannot say the second book is worse or better, they are pretty much the same. Though, the continuation is intense, emotional pressure is immense.

“Love Beyond Words”

Words and phrases from the books of Rafael Mendonça, a famous writer, pierced her soul. She was in love with his stories. Julian feels that now all his stories are written for her. Or perhaps he’s simply madly in love. But revealing his secret to her isn’t the same as letting his feelings take over. Opening his heart feels like death—there’s no turning back. Their bond is the meeting of two lonely souls, the best thing that has ever happened to them. But one secret can separate them forever—and even lead to their ruin.

HEAR ME OUT, all the novels by Emma Scott evoke in me a whirlwind of emotions, but Love Beyond Words is a masterpiece. In every sense, I wish I could erase my memories and reread it again.

Emma implemented some thriller features in this book, thus, I advise you to be careful and not to overwhelm yourself. This is a true romantic suspense.

«Unbreakable»

They have only three days to find comfort and strength in each other, to reveal their deepest fears and secrets. But is it truly possible to forget someone forever after they’ve made their way into the depths of your heart?

Being honest, I didn’t think that main characters are adults and unreasonably decided that it will not speak to me or I won’t be able to catch up with grown ups’ thoughts. However, I did. This is also not just a harmless romance, as you can see, it is a life-threatening setting. It was an unspeakably great mix of genres like romance, drama and action.

Although action is more commonly associated with films, “Unbreakable” seamlessly incorporates it alongside the other element.

“Be My Tomorrow”

Ten years ago, my younger sister was kidnapped. She couldn’t be saved. I never cried. Instead, I poured my pain into my graphic novel. My heroine hunted down child abductors to stop them from fulfilling their plans. When things were at their worst, I met Beckett. His heart was kind, but his soul was drowning in the darkness of his own past. He felt guilt, just like I did.

Beckett

I gave up on a future the day I committed that crime, making a hellish mistake. My path was anything but easy. I was poor and desperate. The world is so full of filth that when you find light, you cling to it with all you have. Zelda was that light—beautiful, creative, with green eyes. We all make mistakes. But some can never be undone. I can’t, and won’t, ruin her life.

Regret ate away at her heart, denying her any chance of redemption. Guilt burned him from the inside, like a fire. Will they find the strength to keep going?

The beginning of this book will probably give you the impression “That is so fanfiction-like, could have been more original” or something similar, but it will change IN ABSOLUTELY DIFFERENT direction further in the Be My Tomorrow. In addition, this book is earthier than “Love Beyond Words”, which has descriptions of assaulting scenes, blood injuries and etc., for example. Don’t miss out on this breathtakingly beautiful love story.

Summing up, Emma Scott’s books have always been a safe place and served as useful distractors from problems for me. I strongly advocate that every book reader SHOULD read at least one of her books, regardless of their age, gender, race and etc.

Emma Scott deserves a unique place in the literary world.
