Hey there! Today I am presenting 2 trilogies that I binge read: The Folk of the Air by Holly Black ( Fantasy, Romance, Adventure) and Inheritance Games (Mystery, Fiction, Romance) by Jenn. L. Barns.

Summary of Inheritance Games: The story centers on Avery Kylie Grambs, a teenage girl who unexpectedly inherits a billion-dollar fortune from the enigmatic philanthropist Tobias Hawthorne. His will specifies that Avery must reside in his mansion, Hawthorne House, for a year to claim her inheritance. Living with her in the mansion are the Hawthorne family members, who are both puzzled and resentful about Tobias’s decision to leave his fortune to Avery. As Avery starts to decode the clues left by Tobias, she seeks to uncover the reason behind the inheritance from someone she barely remembers. Alongside the four Hawthorne grandsons, each exceptionally intelligent, Avery delves into the dark secrets of the family’s past and finds herself attracted to two of the brothers.

Although I didn’t expect much from Inheritance Games, they attracted me with the mystery of Tobias Hawthorn, who was an ambiguously fascinating person. While reading the trilogy, my attitude towards him was constantly changing. It was hard to understand his intentions towards his grandchildren, children and the heroine herself. However, the plot twists were predictable at times and the love triangle might intimidate experienced romance readers.

Also, this book would perfectly fit fans who enjoy love triangles.

7/10

Let me continue with my TOP trilogy of all time which I have read 1.5 years ago, after I purchased the first book called “Cruel Prince”. It immerses  readers in the fantasy world by introducing it step by step, then the author accelerates the plot in further books, which I consider a very rational way of telling a story.

Overview:

At the age of seven, Jude witnessed her parents’ murder at the hands of her mother’s former lover, who then took her and her two sisters to the fairy world. A decade later, Jude is determined to find her place in this world, even though many faeries disdain humans. She is viewed as weak, and some faeries, including Prince Cardan, the youngest prince and her rival, often bully humans for amusement.

Jude’s twin sister, Taryn, faces similar challenges. To protect herself and her sisters, Jude dedicates herself to sword training, aiming to become strong and capable.

When the High King decides to resign, the story takes a dramatic turn with complex political maneuvers. Jude becomes entangled in the intrigues of the High Court, navigating the shifting dynamics and power struggles.

As you might have noticed, main character Jude has a twin sister, which I consider a rare feature that adds more engagement in the plot from the first pages.

The way relationships between sisters, lovers, friends, kids and parents are developed is realistic and logical. They are not annoying, which means that Holly Black successfully completed the mission of creating characters that make readers feel not just something, but a wide range of emotions throughout the book series. Surely, I recommend it to everyone, I am sure it is a hundred percent worthy of your time.

You can see the fan edition called “How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories”, which includes indescribably picturesque illustrations that made me want to open it and observe them. Dear readers, you will never regret the purchase of the book that uncovers the story of the Cruel King after finishing the trilogy.

10/10 definitely.
